1. Export that Birthday Calendar. (Highlight Calendar - File | Export)
2. Import it back into iCal.
3. Uncheck the Subscription Birthday Calendar.
4. Rename "new" Birthdays calendar.

iCal: Subscription Calendar Sync to iPhone (ie. Birthdays)
