Over the weekend, me, my wife and 4yr old were at Home Depot looking for some icicle lights (This will be the first year we put any lights on our home - what we do for our kids). While looking at the wide array of lighting options, my son noticed a "Shooter". "Dad lets get that shooter"! I took a look at this little gun device that is suppose to magically fix strands of xmas lights. Hmmmm... I remember our pre-lit tree looked less then pre-lit last season, but like most things, "This $19.96 Magic Mystery Gun will most likely not work as advertised". We passed on the "Shooter".
Just last night my wife decided she would start pulling out the tree to see how bad the lighting was this year. Well, as expected, multiple light sections of our pre-lit tree were out. I check fuses, looked at the bulbs, this could take till new years! Everything looked copacetic. After about an hour I decided to go back to Home Depot and grab that miracle "shooter" and give it a whirl.
I got back home, glanced over the directions, plugged this "shooter" into a bulb socket, pulled the trigger and WHALA! The entire trained lit up!!! Holly Shit, this thing works! The entire strained lights up and now I can see one or two bulbs are out (Gotta replace those tomorrow). I plug the bulb I removed back into the socket I used for the LightKeeper Pro and all the lights stay lit. This little gun seems to "jump-start" bad "Shunts" in failed/burned-out bulbs!!!
OK, Not a Miracle... HOW THIS THING WORKS:
Fixes most light sets in seconds using the Quick Fix Trigger
Most miniature Holiday Light set failures occur when an individual bulb “shunt” fails to energize. These shunts are energized when a filament burns out. This causes a section of lights, usually 35 or 50, to go out instead of just one light bulb. This is because miniature light sets are wired in “series” and electricity must flow through each bulb, to the next, for them to light. The LightKeeper Pro Quick Fix Trigger sends a shaped, electrical pulse through the defective bulb, clearing the shunt. This allows it to operate properly. The current can then flow through the light set completing the circuit and illuminating the other bulbs. The Patented LightKeeper Pro is the first product to FIX defects in a light set with the squeeze of a trigger.
Sure the days of one bulb killing your whole strained are long gone, now we have to worry about the "Defective Shunt"
